What makes Toby so mean?

Here is Toby (for your consideration) who seems placid enough unless you happen to be a cucumber. He tortures, mutilates and then, when he has finished toying with them, he eats the cucumbers. Even when they are protected by shrink-wrapped plastic, it is no match for Toby's teeth and claw routine.
