What makes Sunny so mean?

(Step-brother of Emory) 

Sunny is a bit aloof and quirky most of the time.  Usually, he bolts at the sight of anyone, even my son and me.  He regularly slaughters small rodents and birds, leaving their guts on the brick walkway for all to see/slip on/whatever.  If you can get him to not jump away when you come near him, he'll let you rub his belly, only to attack you immediately thereafter.
