What makes Soffie so mean?
Soffie Socks was found when she was a tiny
kitten, sitting on the footstep of my front door. There was no
Mama Cat to be seen. Naturally we took her in but at first I could
not touch her. She was very mean -- a real meankitty -- and bit
and scratched me whenever I got close. Soon I began to wear gloves
to work with her as if she were a wild animal (which I think she
is).
When Soffie was still a kitten, I entered her in
a Cat Show for the Fourth of July. She would not let the judges
touch her and growled whenever anybody walked close to her cage.
She did win an award -- nicest cat carrier -- because I had
decorated it with red, white and blue ribbons, but she surely
didn't win "Best All Around" or "Nicest
Kitty".
Soffie is almost a year and a half old now
(6/01) and has learned to let me pet her, but just look out if I
have to take her to the vet! Getting her to the vet is my biggest
challenge. She hisses and squirms and bites and throws a very ugly
fit. If you are not careful she will bite the living snot out of
your arm. A lot of times I just let the vet take her out of her
carrier and put her back in once I am there because he is used to
meankitties.
