What makes Snape so mean?
Snape is a moderately mean kitty
with me, but the real depth of her evil didn't manifest
itself until she stayed at my parents' house for a month
while I was on a trip. The first night, they left their
bedroom door open so she could sit on the bed if she wanted.
My mom woke in the wee hours to find Snape sitting inches
from her head, growling and hissing. After that, they shut
the bedroom door at night but they'd still let her in during
the day. Her favorite thing to do was hide under the foot of
the bed and dart out to ambush my mom whenever she walked
by.
The worst was when my mom tried
to pet her and Snape punctured her hand. It wasn't a
claw-swipe, it was just one claw stuck with deadly precision
into my poor mother's hand. Into a VEIN: the back of her
hand got all swollen like a giant blood blister. (To their
credit, my parents still kittysit when I have to be away
from home.)
At home, Snape's not that evil
but she's still a meankitty. She'll flop onto her back to
fool people into rubbing her furry belly so she can grab
them with all four paws and some teeth. When I let her in my
bedroom at night (when it's not too important that I get a
good night's sleep), she'll spend the whole night
alternating between walking on me to get to my pillow and
reaching under the covers to smack my feet; sometimes she
pounces on me just for variety.
Another thing she does is drown
her poor mousie toy. It's floppy so she can carry it around
like it's something she's killed and dump it in her water
bowl. Always headfirst. She's pulled off one of its arms and
yesterday I had to sew up a hole in its head. I'm worried
because I haven't seen any similar toys in the stores and
she really likes it. That's actually her second floppy
mousie. She already tore one up and I had to buy another.
Along with grabbing people and torturing mousie toys, her
favorite things to do are tip things over, steal food off my
plate, and flush the toilet. One time, I had some, er,
digestive difficulties and Snape got the urge to flush the
toilet while I was using it. I tried to stop her and she
smacked me right under my eye. With her claw, possibly the
same one she used on my mom. I put iodine and Neosporin on
it, but it looked pretty horrible for a few days.
