What makes Shelley so mean?
Shelley is turning 11 in September 2001and she is very mean to
the new kitten, Chloe. She eats all of Chloe's food and hisses and
swipes at her if she tries to come near. She prevents Chloe
from getting near the catpan and from going outside. She
even gets in between Chloe and us humans, keeps her from sleeping
and just about everything else.
Chloe is too scared to even dare to fight Shelley away. I
sometimes see Chloe talking to Shelley while Shelley is eating
Chloe's food, but Shelley just keeps eating. I think that
makes Shelley a good candidate for the meankitty gallery!
****UPDATE!****
I've upgraded and got another cat called Rocko, who is the
meanest one out of all of them. He
was a stray and when we found him he was skin and bones
(literally) so we adopted him.
Whenever one of the girls go out he's always there and ready to
harass. Both my girls are de-sexed
and he isn't, so I bet you can guess what he wants to do! He
jumps on their backs and yowls
and the girls end up escaping to the top of the tree
in the backyard. Oh, and just to keep you
updated Shelley and Chloe still don't get
along, but they have improved very slightly
which I guess I should be grateful for.
****UPDATE TWO!****
Something very exciting happened last week: we
celebrated Shelley's 14th birthday. And yes, despite her getting
older and slower she is still determined to be top cat and still
pushes Chloe around. I think I'm going to
have to watch her now when she goes outside as she is coming
home all scratched up. In fact a couple of days ago she came in
with a bleeding tail. She seems to enjoy bullying other cats
around.
