When I first got Serena, I christened her with this name
because she was an aloof butterball wannabe and didn't make a
sound the whole way home, despite the fact that prying this baby
out of the pet taxi was more difficult than getting a ship out of
a bottle. I got her from the shelter, where her previous owner had
dropped her off for "biting the grandkids." While Serena
has her mean moments, I certainly would have given up the
grandkids first.
Since she has been with me, Serena has lost A LOT of weight,
mainly through eating lo-cal food and going on walks outside (this
cat absolutely loves her harness). She has lost so much weight, in
fact, that she now has this skin pouch on her belly that doubles
as a mop when she trots along the floor.
While Serena has her precious moments with this human, she does
register on the mean scale at times. For instance, she has been
known to hiss simply if I use a stern tone of voice with her.
Also, she doesn't have much tolerance for her roommate kitty,
Akane. She gets in front of her and puts on this weird tippytoe
sideways stance, as if this makes her appear bigger to Akane.
Trickery, trickery. That's my big mean kitty.
