What makes Portia so mean?
Portia rules our house, even
presiding over a German Shepherd and Jack Russell Terrier. She
"tolerates" a lot of the things we do to her. But don't be
fooled--while she is having her photo taken she is plotting her
revenge. One of her favourite tricks is to scale my pants using
her recently sharpened claws.
Portia is also a glutton and will endure almost anything for a
snack. I've tried the old spray bottle trick, but if she is
after food she'll allow herself to be soaked. If she's on the
kitchen counter (where she knows she is not allowed) and I pick
up the spray bottle, instead of jumping off, she hunkers down,
closes her eyes and waits for the spray.
As a final example of her meanness, Portia beats up the dogs.
During their wrestling matches, the dogs may put their mouths
over her, but Portia doesn't care. She bites hard and one time
managed to hook her claw in the lower eyelid of my Jack. So far
no one has suffered any major damage but I'm sure it's just a
matter of time before Portia leaves her mark permanently.
