What makes Little Cat so mean?
I'm sure that there are a lot of truly mean kitties out
there, but this one has got to be close to the top. We got
Little Cat at a local No Kill shelter several years back. My
wife picked her because she looked so pathetic, cowering in the
corner by herself with big sad eyes. We soon found out that it
was all just an act. Little Cat is a truly Mean Kitty because:
1. She's a chair stealer. Not only will she kick our other
cat off of any chair, bed, perch that she wants, she will also
steal any human's chair (like at the dinner table). The rule in
our house is don't leave the table unless you want to loose your
seat to Little Cat.
2. She responds to names like 'Beast of the Underworld' and
'Goblin'.
3. If we are watching movies, she refuses to sit with the
family unless the movie is violent, bloody, gory, etc. As soon
as a character is eliminated from the film (without fail) Little
Cat will appear in the room. The gorier the movie, the more
interested she becomes. In fact, we often have 'B' movie night
with a group of friends, and Little Cat is known to stand up
directly in front of the screen (we have an LCD Projector) a
foot from the screen and block the movie.
4. When little cat gets into her 'crazy' mood. She thinks
nothing of sinking her claws into your leg, arm, face or
whatever other extremity she can get her paws on. Soft Paws
(nail covers) have made play time a bit more tolerable.
5. She will not drink from a bowl like any normal cat. She
will only drink out of a running tap and we have yet to be able
to teach her to turn it off when she's done.
6. Her favorite pass-time consists of stretching out on her
side (on the hardwood floors) and having someone spin her around
like a pinwheel. This is a great source of amusement for house
guests.
7. When she is hungry (typically about 5:30 AM), she will
continue to let you know until there is food in her bowl. When
meowing doesn't wake you up, then she climbs on the bed, or the
bedside table, or your stomach and increases the volume until
you open your eyes.
There are many other reasons why Little Cat is a Mean Kitty.
Just remember, the next time you decide to adopt the timid kitty
that's cowering in the corner, don't be fooled! You could get a
Little Cat too!
