What makes Krystal so mean?

Here she is, my thirteen year old, odd eyed, meankitty pretending to be Betsy Ross. Although she looks docile and is declawed, she will hiss, growl and swat at anyone passing by. She reserves bites for those who dare to touch her. She is not selective in who she bites, babies, children, grandmothers, great-grandmothers and even the hand who feeds her! The sign outside my door states "Beware of Cat" and it is not a joke! (She won't bite you if you don't touch her.)
