What makes Gromit so mean?

Sadly, we just lost our meankitty Squid 3 weeks ago, he was the best! He was one of those kitties where when you pet him, he'd complain but get upset when you stopped. Don't! Stop!

Gromit, on the other hand, has issues with his tongue.  He was in a car accident when he was growing up and had to have his jaws wired shut for a couple of weeks. In the meantime his tongue stretched out real long! And his eyes cross a little, so he gets cranky from time to time. I would too!
